This Time Its Only For The Memories.

Every Sunday afternoon when I go to work there is a guy working across the parking lot doing the weekly clean of his resturant of employment, every Sunday afternoon at 5:30pm I start to set up my resturant of employment and as he is packing and cleaning his down all I can hear booming across the parking lot is an assortment of gangsta rap and hip hop travelling straight from his door to mine.
The music he plays sends me into an instant state of nostalgia and takes me straight back to my last few years in high school from about year 9 or 10 to year 12.
At first he was playing Dr Dre (2001), Eminem (The Marshall Mathers E.P), and N.W.A's Niggaz4Life. All these albums were pretty main stream back in the day and I thought nothing of it other than to sing along and enjoy the trip down memory lane as I would set up outside. But more recently he has been bringing out a few other albums that I have just gone wow this guy is really stuck in the late 90s very early 00s. First it was Ludacris (Chicken & Beer), then The Notorious B.I.G. (Life After Death disc2) both still pretty main stream but then it got a bit deeper with DMX's The Great Depression, Killah Preist's Black August and Xzibit's Restless album. As I was taken completly aback by these albums I could not believe I could still remember the album names and even more so than that almost every word to every song. These are things I have not heard of or thought of since about 2002.
I constantly look over as this young guy is hosing down the mats and I think to myself, what is it that has you so stuck in the past, I have not heard one song post 2003.
There is no real conclusion to this post, excpt for the fact that every Sunday afternoon I know I am going to take a trip down a musical memory lane for the first 30-45 minutes of my shift and I am actually a little bit excited about it.

35mm Holga.

Things turned out to be an ordeal. I shot my first roll of 35mm yesterday on slide film. It had to be sent away and wont be back for 2 weeks, it also cost about $36, way too much! So I put a roll of normal 35mm negative film in shot it got it developed and then they told me they could not scan them in. I got off it and bailed to the Kodak shop. They said they could do it, but for reasons that are long and I wont go into I could not get them exactly how I would have liked, but they are pretty close. So yeah here is a few photos off the first roll. This is the only reason I bought this camer and tweaked it.

New Found Glory.

I got two new things yesterday. One was a board, the other was my holga. I rode the board pretty much straight away and was that syked it was silly. The shape is bullshit!!
I got the holga and tweaked it so I could shoot 35mm through it straight away.

I could not get the silver one, Joe got them. But I am still super syked on the colours!

Everything you need to start. Tape, film, foam, rubber bands, cardboard.Put a rubber band round each end of the spool so the film rolls on straight.I got rid of the plastic 4x6 insert and covered the two plastic runners with electric tape, the film drags across these parts.Cut the foam to the right size, place film inbetween the foam, tape it to the spool so as to make sure it winds on.The film does not sit flat, so I put cardboard in to help it stay flat.I taped the film in to make sure it does not fall out. This is what it looked like just before I put it together.
I taped up all the cracks in the camera so light would not get in, Thats one of the whole points of the Holga but I didn't want it to happen yet. I could not get black tape either, I will for the next roll of film though.

I am currently trying to track one of these down in these exact colours. Apparently they only made 5 in this colour. But we will see what happens! I might have to settle for blue....

Bodyboarding.

New online mag has been set up, its real cool. Videos are embedded in the pages and you can view gifs of alot of the actualy spreads. Its layout is exactly like a mag, the pages turn like a magazine, it is just allowing digital to improve mags beyond thier current physical capabilities. The only down side is you cant hold it haha but it is free so yeah woo!! You would go have a look if you are a bodyboarder!

Lunch Hall Food Brawl.

So I cop this so much and I am sure anyone else who eats a little bit differently would as well. You don't eat meat, eggs or drink milk... What do you eat. Oh my god its has not even been a year and I am so sick of this question. Well here is the answer and I will be referring people to this from now on if they can not be bothered to go have a look why should I bother trying to explain.

Breakfast starts something like this.

Weetibix 4 or 5, oats, granola, banana, strawberries, blueberries and raspberries.

Lunch varies daily, but generally salad rolls with either tofu or Rediburger.

Dinner also varies but here is one meal I cook a bit.

Veges are- Broccoli, carrots, beans, zucchini, capsicum and mushrooms.
Then 3 or 4 cloves of Garlic. 400 grams of tofu.

Herbs and spices- Paprika, Thyme, Cumin, Turmeric and salt.
Yesterday also I baked my first vegan cake, it was chocolate. It was a pretty basic recipe. There were a few things I would have done differently but yeah it tastes real good and I reckon I did ok for a first baking effort.Ingredients Mixing. The cake. It was very tasty!

What did you eat today?

So in short I am basically Martha Stewart.
Minus the jump suit and insider trading.Go to jail Martha.

Recent Readings.

I have read a few good books in the last month or two, here are a few of them.

Animal Farm is a book written by George Orwell. It is a book about Starlin and the Soviet Union, it is basically having a go at communism and the Starlin regime. Well it is actually about a farm where the animals drive the owner from the farm and form their own society. I got pretty syked on it, it made me so angry though haha. I spose thats what books are meant to do, engage their audience or what ever haha.

This book was pretty heavy reading, it was pretty amazing though. I was going through the classics and well this dates back and is about as classic as they get I would say, no one is exactly sure when it was written but it was some where between 1150–800 BC. So yeah it is old. It is the story of the Trojan war, the one they made a movie out of starring Brad Pitt and Eric Banner. The book I would say is way better, the gods play such a massive part in the book, getting involved in the battles and taking sides when they are forbidden to by Zues God of the Gods. I spose everyone knows how it ends but the story is still amazing.
This book was a bit beyond my reading ability at the moment. But I will read it again later in life when I am sure I will be able to appreciate it alot more.

I have read this book at least 7 or 8 times. I am half way through it again. Hemingway was the author that got me into reading, the first book I ever picked up was "For Whom The Bell Tolls". It got me so into reading, I have read a fair few Hemingway books since then and they have all been incredible.
This book is just the best thing ever!! If you like the ocean in anyway what so ever read this. This is in my top 5 favorite books for sure!!
It is pretty much about exactly what the title is, an old fisherman struggles with the biggest fish he has ever seen for days until well, read the book but yeah.

Just finished this book last week. I was actually really impressed. I had never really liked Truman Capote. This is just another book that creates a romanticism for New York. The characters are all real good. It is only a short story, I wish it had have been about a hundred pages longer though!

Tallows was super fun again today!! Surfed twice almost went for a third.

Brokebay.

I need to get the hell away from Ebay. It is doing bad things to my brain. I finally get a little bit of money and I start buying everything I have ever wanted haha.

Most recent purchase, about 10 minutes ago was this. Nikon 50mm 1.8. It was way less than half of the price of the one in the Kodak shop in town.

In other news Tallows has been pumping on and off now for over a week. Banks all up and down the beach for all tides and all swells!!!

Number 66.

Any one that reads this would probably know that I am back in Byron, life is amazing the weather is incredible the surf has been real fun, I have consistent work again thats real good, same old jobs. The only thing lacking is a house. I have not made a post for a while. I have not really had internet access. I have surfed Iluka real fun twice and had a few fun surfs at Tallow as well. I am still in the process of looking for a house. I would like to find some where to live soon, living in a lounge room is not as cool as it may sound!!

Other news. I just bought this, pretty syked. $60 including postage.

So there will be a few photos coming soon. I have wanted one for ages but just put it off, until the girl I have been staying with bought one yesterday.

I have big travel plans next year that includes all these places.
